INTERNATIONAL DANCE WORKSHOP
In Greece
GREEK and ROMANIAN dances
Mount.PILION: Village HOREFTO
29 JUNE - 08 JULY 2002
The Balkan area is considered among the ones with the richest heritage in culture and tradition. Reasons apart the true willing of the Balkan people kept this heritage into the narrow border frames for many years.
My desire for more intimate contact and cultural exchange, lead to last year's "Greek-Bulgarian dance seminar" which was considered very successful
As a continuity of this effort I organize this year's seminar.
Greece and Romania, which have many times met through history, have something common. The Vlachs. For centuries there are divided opinions for this "mysterious tribe" that is spread in all Balkan countries. We will have the chance to meet them through their music, dance, and their live appearance of course, so to beside the other dances of Greece and Romania, examine the Vlach similarities and differences in both countries.
Horefto is a village by the slopes of mount Pilion in Volos central Greece. It is located next to the sea and is also the seaport of village Zagora which is 8km far towards the mount. A very nice place for relaxing, dancing, swimming or trekking! It is easy of approach through Thessaloniki, Skiathos or Athens airports.
We are dancing at the yard o a traditional house, under the trees and only 200m far from the sea!
There will be a performance of dances from:
